Depending on your driving style and conditions, you may notice several warning signs and are not sure what they mean. In this article we’ll cover the important check-ups you should do every 6 months. We’ll talk about shocks and struts, brake system, wiper blades, exhaust system and the spare tire.
Auto check-ups
Shocks and Struts
These components of your vehicle are important to pay attention to, not only for safety reasons but they can also save you money down the road. When shocks and struts are worn out, your tires end up working over time. That results in having to replace your tires a lot earlier than planned. Shocks and struts also cause stress over steering parts and suspension, which will affect the control you have when driving. We recommend replacing all four shocks at 80,000 KM’s. Replacing all four at the same time will allow an even handling at each wheel and preventing other parts to get worn out.
Brake System
We’ve all heard it and know it, brakes are one of the most important safety component of your vehicle. How worn out are your vehicle’s brakes? That depends on your driving conditions, driving style and mileage. Paying attention and visiting your mechanic for an inspection is always a good idea to enjoy a safe drive.
Wiper Blades
Don’t wait until your driving visibility is very affected to replace your wiper blades. Car owners often realize their wiper blades are ready to go when they start streaking or skipping on the windshield and affects driving visibility. We recommend you inspect your wiper blades once a month. Make sure the frame isn’t broken, meaning there aren’t any detached pieces from the frame. Check for obvious cracks and missing pieces in the rubber. Also make sure your rubber squeegee is still flexible, simply move it back and forth. The squeegee should also be firm secured in the wiper frame. If any or multiple of these tests fail, it’s time to replace your wiper blades.
Exhaust system
Extremely loud engine, rattled vehicle when you first start your car or fume odours in your car’s cabin…These are a few warning signs from the exhaust system. We recommend making an appointment every 6 months for a car check-up, we’ll make sure your car is safe for you and your family!
Spare Tire
We recommend checking the air pressure of the spare tire to ensure it’s in top condition, while you’re at it also check the air pressure of your car’s tire.
