Spring is right around the corner and so is spring cleaning. In this article, we’ll cover how to get your vehicle ready for spring and summer, why it’s important to remove your winter tires and how to remove all the winter gunk from your car.
1. Time to remove your winter tires
This is such an important step when transitioning to another season, winter tires are exactly what their name suggest, for winter. If winter tires are left on during hot and humid weather, your winter tires will get damaged because the weather conditions harm the rubber compounds. Therefore, remember to remove your winter tires and replace them with all season tires and keep your winter tires intact for the next winter. In a previous post of ours, we covered the difference between winter tires and all season tires. If you’d like to learn more about the two, click here for more information.
2. Give your car a good clean
It’s essential to wash your car from the winter conditions, wash off the salt from the road, mud, dust, etc. We prefer using a microfibre towels when cleaning our cars. Unlike cotton or other traditional cloths, microfibre is very absorbent and traps the germs and dirt in the cloth until washed off. To benefits most from it, use the microfibre cloth damp while cleaning, you can also use it dry for polishing.
3. Interior details
Make sure you clean the interior of your car so the spring cleaning complete. Get all the car mats out and start by vacuuming the seats, floors and trunk. Use a damp microfibre cloth to remove the excess dust from the interior.
4. DIY Car Air Freshener
A great way to freshen up your vehicle is by making your own air freshener! It’s a simple one, you’ll need around 8-12 wool felt balls, thread, sewing needle, 1/4” ribbon and one or a combination of essential oils that you prefer! Proceed by threading the wool balls onto the thread, 8 will make a smaller circle, if you want a bigger circle add more. Tie them off once you are happy with the size of the circle, you can also make it into a small line or get creative with the shape! Make sure to add a couple drops to your end product and voila! We love lavender oil because of it’s soothing benefits, we also love cedar because it makes us feel we are always outdoors or anything citrusy, because citrus scents are refreshing!
5. Car Check-Up
Winter will be tough on your car, the cold and harsh conditions will make your car feel worn out. We encourage you to come by and get a general maintenance done to ensure everything works well so you can enjoy your summer while being safe and get a couple road trips going!
