I personally would always get car sick, especially when I was younger and didn’t understand what was wrong. Once I realized motion sickness is real, I started taking small steps into the right direction but would still get dizzy or nauseous. Once I applied all of the following tips, I started feeling much better and motion sickness was slowly fading away. Many doctors came to the conclusion that car sickness is initiated by what our eyes see and how our body’s explain the movement of a vehicle. Motion sickness is no fun and would love to help beat it with simple solutions!
1. Shotgun
One of my favourite solutions is to sit in the front, either sit in the driving seat or in the front passenger seat. It’s very helpful to have good visibility and being able to focus on the road. If you are stuck in the back, bring a cushion that will give you some height. That will help provide better visibility all around you and not have the feeling of motion without seeing the road or vehicles.
2. Smooth rides are the best rides
We can all thank you vehicle’s suspensions for smooth and easy rides. Car suspension also help provide better stability and handling over your vehicle. Good car suspension are essential for a calm and smooth drive.
3. Focus on the road
Many of us experience motion sickness simply by reading a book, trying to get emails done, texting…You get the idea. Focusing on other tasks will only make things worse, really focus on the road and relax your mind. If you’re like me and have an itch to do more than just focusing on the road, you should try listening to an audiobook or great music.
4. No more bumps
The smoother the drive, the better you’ll feel. Try avoiding bumpy roads, that will only make motion sickness get worse. A great solution is to drive on the highway as much as possible, avoid small roads that have many stops signs or lights is helpful. To have a smooth and easy ride, make sure your vehicle’s shocks are up to date. We would love to provide proper maintenance and making your drive enjoyable.
5. Bottoms up
Limit your food and drinking consumption before a drive. Make sure you don’t hit up the road right after a “all you can eat and drink” restaurant, because it won’t be pretty. I personally love having lemon water ready at all times. It’s a refreshing and simple drink to make that slowly makes everything better. You can always get lemon water at any restaurants and sip on that before driving.
You will definitely see a major difference if you apply all of these simple tips, I know I did! It’s been a while since I felt motion sickness and day trips or road trips are very enjoyable!
